Annual Notification

In accordance with Washington State law concerning student education records, parents of students currently in attendance at St. Michael Catholic School have a right to:

  • Inspect and review the student's education records
  • Request the amendment of the student's education records to ensure that they are not inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student's privacy or other rights
  • Consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student's education records, except to the extent that the law permits disclosure without consent
  • File with the U.S. Department of Education a complaint under concerning alleged failures by the school to comply with the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
  • Obtain a copy of the policy regarding how St. Michael Catholic School meets the requirements of Washington State law concerning student education records.
Copies of this policy may be obtained in the office of the principal. St. Michael Catholic School forwards education records requested by an educational institution in which the student seeks enrollment or services within ten days of receiving the new educational agency's request

 

Directory Information

St. Michael Catholic School has designated the following as directory information, which the school may disclose without specific consent: The student's name, address, telephone listing, photograph, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and the most recent previous educational agency or institution attended. A parent is entitled to refuse to let the school designate any or all of these items about the student as directory information. Notice from a parent that he or she does not want any or all of these types of information about the student designated as directory information must be made in writing to the principal of St. Michael Catholic School by September 30, of that current school year.
